Sommer 2016
The MITEK project (Migration Integration Identity-European Culture) was launched by immigrants of Polish origin working for numerous organizations in different EU countries.
The main objective of the MITEK project was to increase the effectiveness of adult education provided in 7 partner EU countries to preserve the migrants’ national identity and socially integrate them with fellow citizens of the countries they live in by enriching the educational offer. It also aimed at facilitating mutual understanding and coexistence in multi-cultural societies, combating prejudice, debunking stereotypes and fighting xenophobia - all in cooperation with local communities and in mutual respect.
This objective was achieved thanks to the discovery and implementation of methods, approaches and tools found in adult education in the partner countries, and used to achieve goals in their own environment. A total of more than 12 000 people have participated in the project.

As a result of the project:
1. All participating partners have increased the usage of computers and the Internet in their activities by:
· learning how to create websites and using them for adult education - as a result, all participants have created or improved their own websites and have been using them actively.
· learning to make simple movies using computer software, and using them in the educational process
· learning advanced methods of using the Internet, e.g. for information storing and sharing of videos, photos, music, etc.
2. All participating partners have learned interesting and reliable ideas for activities supporting the preservation of identity and integration through culture and sports. As a result, concerts and opera performances have been organized (in Przemyśl, Vienna, Budapest, Stockholm), and more of such events are to follow.
3. All participating partners have learned various ideas on how to improve the emigrants’ self-esteem and their identity, and to fight stereotypes and xenophobia:
· in Brussels, by promoting positive attitudes and the emigrants’ achievements via competitions such as Belgium’s ‘The Pole of the Year’, and via Polish schools and Polish cultural centers,
· in Padua, by exploring and promoting knowledge of the remaining traces of Polish culture, multidimensional cooperation between emigrants and fellow citizens of various nationalities in the country of residence,
· in Berlin, Budapest and Przemyśl, by joint multinational events aimed to cultivate national traditions, and to which people from other cultural backgrounds were invited, cooperation with other organizations, local government and media,
· in Stockholm, by providing language, vocational, legal, civil, historical remembrance courses to emigrants, forming sports teams in different disciplines and organizing games between teams of different nationalities,
· in Austria, by organizing opera performances, poetry evenings performed by multinational cast of participants.
4. All the discovered approaches and ideas inspired by them were introduced into the partners’ own activities; all partners expanded and improved their educational offer,
5. The project activities contributed to the weakening of stereotypes and prejudice within the partner organizations environment, increased general knowledge and boosted the awareness of the need to educate in the fight against discrimination and inequality,
6. Interest in cooperation between emigrants and residents of their host country has increased,
7. Partnership with the media, institutions and local organizations have been established, and in the partner countries collaboration to make use of the project results has been started,
8. Lasting relationships between partners have been established which, in turn, resulted in long-term plans for further cooperation and joint projects, not only among partners but also with other organizations encountered during the project:
· joint classical music concerts and choirs performances in collaboration with Towarzystwo Muzyczne from Przemyśl (PL) along the lines of experience with partners from Budapest (HU) and Vienna (AT)
· joint opera performances in contemporary arrangement by the Passion Artist Association of Vienna (AT)
· cooperation between intergenerational universities being founded to resemble the Berlin’s and based on the experience of the University of the Third Age in Vienna.
· organization of sport tournaments in different disciplines,
· exchange of interesting information, documentaries and films about interesting projects for publication on websites and in other media,
· joint training in various aspects of the management of the organization raising funds for statutory activity in collaboration with the Kresowe Centrum Nauki i Rozwoju „Perła Galicji” foundation,
· a joint project for the promotion of the importance of Poles for the shaping of the history of European cities, regions, countries - along the lines of Padua (IT) partner experience.

Grundtvig Lernpartnerschaften
